Alternatives To Tanning:

Did you know that the number 1 way to stay wrinkle free is to stay out of the sun. Researchers have shown that not only will it prevent cancer; which is bad enough, but less sun equals less wrinkles. Whether it's tanning in the sun or in tanning beds; you have to make sure to never burn. Burning of the skin takes away pigmentation therefore causing melanoma. I'm not going to scare you and talk about the facts because you already know it's not as safe as we would hope it to be. What I will do is offer simple suggestions to help you still look good and feel great.

First of all tanning to a certain extent isn't bad. We need vitamin D and we get vitamin D from the sun. Vitamin D helps protect your immune system as well as acts as an antioxidant. Therefore I believe about 10-20 minutes in the sun isn't bad at all. If you have fair skin I would stay in the shade until you've worked up a tolerance to the sun. Even then you want to be careful with how much exposure you are getting.

Wrinkles are caused by the sun more than smoking or laying face down while you sleep. Even the most miraculous creams and serums can't undo the damage caused by the sun.

The good news is that you can prevent wrinkles by taking simple steps. Here are 10 things you can do in your daily routine to help prevent sun damage and wrinkles.

#1 Wear a make-up or moisturizer that has built in sunscreen.
#2 Wear at least a 15spf sunscreen especially when outdoors at the pool or beach for more than 20 minutes.
#3 Wear large sunglasses. They are in, so why not get the look and the protection you need. Always make sure the glasses have a UV protection label.
#4 Cover up. If you have very fair skin cover up when in the sun.
#5 Use a sunless tanner.
#6 Wear a hat especially if it's a bad hair day.
#7 Wear chap stick that has at least 15spf
#8 Moisturize with aloe vera and vitamin E if burned. Any moisture will do. Just make sure it will penetrate the skin and sooth.
#9 Lobster feet. Prevent lobster feet when outdoors in flip flops or bare foot. Always put at least a 30spf on feet as they burn quicker and faster.
#10 Get a spray tan. Not only does it feel great it looks great, too.

Whether you are in the sun on a daily basis or not; it's up to you whether or not you want wrinkles. Staying out of the sun will not only prevent skin cancer, but will help you look great as well. I know in the grande scheme of things it seems easier just to get a tan to get rid of the ghostly glow. The thing is there are so many more options to get a summer glow. There are not as many to get rid of wrinkles except surgery and even then it's costly and painful. I would like to keep my skin as healthy as I can for as long as I can. Still enjoying the sun now and again, but getting my summer glow in a healthy way. Looking good is one thing, but feeling great is another.

Acne:

Acne is one of the most common problems for teens and women. Sebum acts up when you're hormones are haywire. The only way to calm this down is to make sure you keep a healthy skin regimen. More importantly make sure you eat right. I know it's easier said than done. The more sugar in your blood the better chances are for you to get a breakout. Eating fruits such as blueberries and strawberries can help curb your sugar cravings as well as give your skin the nutrients it needs. Carrots also have a ton of vitamin A that can help sebum levels. Zinc is also a mineral known to help fight off acne as well as vitamin E and pantothenic acid.

Sometimes it's good to go with a product. Believe it or not the new Proactiv has helped many teens as well as adults. Also a great product you can find at Ulta or Sephora is Dermalogica's Medibac Clearing Adult Acne Kit. Most give this a 5 star rating. It's worth the money if you are suffering from this.

Women's hormones play a huge part in acne breakouts. Something that can help is birth control. If you are unsure about taking birth control you can try alternatives such as vitamins and homeopathic remedies. Revitol Acnezine is an oral product that can help. Proactiv also has an acne vitamin. Hyland's has a few homeopathic oral remedies as well.

If you are wearing makeup make sure it is water based and not oil based. Mineral makeup such as Bare minerals can help as well. Make sure to clean you applicators often. Dust mites can cause acne and rosacea as well. Be sure to wash your makeup off as soon as you can. Use an oil free makeup remover like Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Wet Cleansing Towelettes.

Other products to try would be Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets and persa-gel 10. The sheets are available in Neutrogena as well and help to remove excess oil from the skin. The persa-gel 10 is a white cream used for spot treating.

There are also natural resources for acne treatment. These ingredients can help mild to moderate acne. Tea tree oil can be used as a spot treatment. Witch hazel, aloe vera and apple cider vinegar can be used as toners. The baking soda can be used as a scrub. Honey and oatmeal can be used as a mask. All of these are a natural source for treating acne. They can be used along with your daily routine.

In worst case scenarios you can try laser treatments. They are usually costly, but can treat the most severe cases of acne. Make sure to go to a renowned laser treatment specialist. There has been treatment accidents at facilities where they didn't know how to properly operate the machinery. Make sure the doctor has a certified license. Always ask that the doctor does your application. In most cases laser treatment can help.

Talking to a dermatologist is a priority if you can. They may prescribe an oral remedy or a strong topical medication such as differin gel or a retin-a treatment. These types of treatments can cure your acne. Most doctors are very understanding and want to help you get clear healthy glowing skin.

If you can't get to a dermatologist for whatever reason. Estheticians specialize in skin care treatments and cosmetology. They can offer facials as well as other natural treatments.

Acne can leave behind unsightly scars on your face as well as on your self-esteem. It can make a social butterfly turn into a bat in a cave. There is something you can do. Where there is a will there is a way. It gets easier once you take the frustration and anger and turn it into finding something that works for you. Not everything you try will work instantly. It's done with trial and error. Just relax and try a some of these tips one by one until you find what works for you. Good luck with everything and have a healthy and beautiful day.
